Search engine optimization is the act of making a website come up higher in the search results of major search engines. The procedure of website optimization ensures that a website has all of the necessary ranking criteria to appeal to the individual search engines needs.

Search engine submission is the term used to describe the method of informing the search engines that your web site exists. Basically, we give the sites URL (your web address) to the search engines and it gets put in a queuing system for inclusion into the search engines index (list of web sites).
Once your site has been accepted into the search engines it will be there permanently, however occasionally additional search engine submission may be required if your site was unavailable (e.g. the server was down) when the search engine spider tried to index it.
